The Cal Poly Mustangs will travel to the CBU Events Center to take on the California Baptist Lancers this Thursday night in College Basketball action.

The Cal Poly Mustangs snapped their 4-game losing streak and improved to 2-4 on the season after defeating the Idaho Vandals, 67-63, on November 24th. Cal Poly led by a 38-29 margin at halftime and pulled away in the 2nd half after taking a 64-52 lead with 5:04 left in regulation. Cal Poly shot 36.4% from the field & 21.4% from beyond the arc while allowing Idaho to shoot 39.1% from the field & 26.7% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Mustangs was Kyle Colvin who had a double-double with 28 points & 10 rebounds.

On the season, Cal Poly is averaging 66.0 ppg on 39.3% shooting from the field. The Mustangs are averaging 4.7 three-pointers per game on 26.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Cal Poly has been led by Jacob Davison (14.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.3 spg), Alimamy Koroma (13.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg), Kyle Colvin (11.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg), & Camren Pierce (5.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 3.5 apg, 1.5 spg).

Defensively, Cal Poly is allowing their opponents to average 66.0 ppg on 40.4% shooting from the field. The Mustangs have a rebound margin of 4.5 and a turnover margin of 0.7.

The California Baptist Lancers improved to 6-1 on the season after defeating the San Diego Christian Hawks, 85-38, this past Saturday. California Baptist dominated San Diego Christian on both ends of the court and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 38-21 halftime lead. California Baptist shot 54.7% from the field & 26.1% from beyond the arc while holding San Diego Christian to just 21.3% from the field & 19.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Lancers was Taran Armstrong who had 9 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 block, & 2 steals.

On the season, California Baptist is averaging 75.6 ppg on 49.9% shooting from the field. The Lancers are averaging 7.1 three-pointers per game on 34.5% shooting from the field. Offensively, California Baptist has been led by Taran Armstrong (12.7 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 7.6 apg, 1.0 spg), Reed Nottage (12.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.0 spg), Daniel Akin (11.7 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.0 bpg), & Ty Rowell (8.7 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 2.6 apg).

Defensively, California Baptist is holding their opponents to an average of 62.4 ppg on 38.3% shooting from the field. The Lancers have a rebound margin of 7.7 and a turnover margin of 2.3.

The Mustangs are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games, however, are just 6-13 ATS in their last 19 Thursday games. The Lancers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games vs. Big West opponents and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 December games.

Not many people know much about the California Baptist Landers, however, this is a solid team on both ends of the court and should be able to take advantage of a Cal Poly team that has really struggled on the offensive end this season, ranking t-277th in scoring offense, 316th in FG%, & 339th in 3P-FG%. California Baptist should have an advantage on the boards against Cal Poly and as I think their defense holds the Mustangs to about 50-55 points, I think the Lancers offense does enough to cover this spread. Good Luck!
