Northern Colorado vs Montana State 12/2/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Montana State Bobcats and the Northern Colorado Bears meet Thursday in college basketball action from Bank of Colorado Arena. Montana State has won their last three games, most recently over Southeast Missouri State. As for Northern Colorado, they’re 3-5 on the season and coming off a loss to Colorado State. Montana State went just 1-3 over their first four games, losing to Colorado, South Dakota State and New Mexico (with a win over Rocky Mountain). Since then it’s been three straight wins over Portland, Incarnate Word and Southeast Missouri State. 

In the win over SEMO, the Bobcats were down 31-27 at halftime. Montana State posted a 48-37 advantage in the second half to take the 75-68 win. Jubrile Belo led the way on 17 points, and Amin Adamu doubled up on 13 points with 10 boards. 

Over on the Northern Colorado side, they managed a 3-1 run in their first four with wins over Pacific, Hawaii and Colorado College. The Bears are on a four-game losing streak to Texas, Cal Baptist, San Jose State and Colorado State since then. 

Northern Colorado had a slim 41-38 advantage at the break in the Colorado State game, but went 50-38 from there in an 88-79 defeat. Bodie Hume topped the team with 30 points, three rebounds and 9-of-14 from 3-point range. 

The Bears are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 as an underdog and 19-7 ATS in the last 26 Thursday games. The over is 6-2 in Northern Colorado’s last eight home games. 

Meanwhile, the Bobcats are 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight after an ATS win and 5-11-2 ATS in their last 18 overall. Montana State is 5-2 ATS in their last seven Thursday games. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Northern Colorado. The Bears put up a valiant effort against a good Colorado State team in their last outing, shooting 46.4 percent from the field with 18-of-37 (48.6 percent) from 3-point range. Northern Colorado kept up on rebounding (27-29) and assists (17-17) as well, but had 21 turnovers. 

As for Montana State, they started slow in their last outing but eventually got the win. The Bobcats have scored pretty well this year so far, so Northern Colorado is going to have to step on the gas to get the cover. I think they’ve got a decent shot, though.
