The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles will travel to the Ford Center to take on the Evansville Purple Aces this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 2-5 on the season after being defeated by the Chattanooga Mocs, 82-65, this past Tuesday. Tennessee Tech led by a 41-35 margin at halftime, however, struggled on both ends of the court in the 2nd half and could not fight back after Chattanooga took a 71-55 lead with 5:00 left in regulation. Tennessee Tech shot 45.0% from the field & 30.8% from beyond the arc while allowing Chattanooga to shoot 54.8% from the field & 25.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was Amadou Sylla who had 12 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks, & 1 steal.

On the season, Tennessee Tech is averaging 73.3 ppg on 44.8% shooting from the field. The Golden Eagles are averaging 6.7 three-pointers per game on 33.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Tennessee Tech has been led by Keishawn Davidson (12.0 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 3.4 apg), Jr. Clay (11.7 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 5.9 apg, 2.6 spg), Mamoudou Diarra (10.6 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.4 bpg), & Diante Wood (7.4 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.3 spg).

Defensively, Tennessee Tech is allowing their opponents to average 75.1 ppg on 49.1% shooting from the field. The Golden Eagles have a rebound margin of 4.3 and a turnover margin of 1.0.

The Evansville Purple Aces dropped to 3-7 on the season after being defeated by the Southern Illinois Salukis, 54-52, this past Wednesday. Evansville fought back from a 32-17 halftime deficit to tie the game at 50-all with under a minute left, however, Evansville could not pull off the victory after the Salukis Marcus Domask made a game-winning jumper with just :03 seconds left in regulation. Evansville shot 45.2% from the field & 38.9% from beyond the arc while allowing Southern Illinois to shoot 50.0% from the field & 30.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Purple Aces was Shamar Givance who had 31 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, Evansville is averaging 60.9 ppg on 40.8% shooting from the field. The Purple Aces are averaging 8.5 three-pointers per game on 33.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Evansville has been led by Shamar Givance (15.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.7 apg, 1.5 spg), Jawaun Newton (13.8 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.0 spg), Noah Frederking (8.1 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.2 spg), & Evan Kuhlman (8.0 ppg, 3.96 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.1 spg).

Defensively, Evansville is allowing their opponents to an average of 66.3 ppg on 46.8% shooting from the field. The Purple Aces have a rebound margin of -3.2 and a turnover margin of -0.1.

The Golden Eagles are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall & 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games. The Purple Aces are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a losing road record, however, are just 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games overall.

Tennessee Tech has had some success on the offensive end this season, however, the defense has really struggled as the Golden Eagles come into this game ranked just 297th in scoring defense & 341st in defensive FG%. Evansville has struggled on both ends of the court this season as they come into this game ranked just 334th in scoring offense, 286th in rebound margin, & 311th in defensive FG%.

Evansville has some solid players in Shamar Givance & Jawaun Newton, however, the Purple Aces just don’t have a lot of depth and between the fact that Tennessee Tech has played some tough competition and was competitive in road games at Chattanooga & Tennessee, I think Tennessee Tech does enough with the points in this one to get us a cover. Good Luck!
