The St. Francis-PA Red Flash and the Ohio Bobcats meet Saturday in college basketball action from Convocation Center. St. Francis-PA is 3-3 so far this year. St. Francis-PA started off the year on a sketchy 1-3 run. The Red Flash had a victory over Franciscan University in there, but otherwise lost to George Washington, Virginia Tech and Cornell. Since then it’s been wins over Lehigh and Bucknell, though.
In the Bucknell matchup, St. Francis-PA had a 10-point edge at halftime and got better from there in an eventual 93-67 victory. Tops in scoring for the Flash was Ramiir Dixon-Conover with 23 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Over on the Ohio side, they won five of their first six games this year. The Bobcats lost to Kentucky, but otherwise beat Belmont, Cleveland State, Roberts Morris, Mount St. Mary’s and Concordia MI. Ohio lost again to LSU in their last game, though.
The Bobcats couldn’t get much going in the first half against LSU, stumbling to a 34-22 halftime deficit that turned into a 66-51 loss. Ben Vander Plas was the leading scorer on the team with 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
The Bobcats are 15-5 ATS in their last 20 at home and 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games. Ohio is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Flash are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five on Saturday. St. Francis-PA is 8-18 ATS in their last 26 overall.
PICK: I’m going to try Ohio in this one. The Bobcats ran into a very good LSU team in their last game, shooting just 26.5 percent from the field with a 43-37 rebounding deficit. That said, Ohio has been great this year outside of a couple tough games.
As for the Flash, they had a good offensive game against Bucknell, shooting 51.4 percent with 41 rebounds. I like St. Francis-PA to hang around in this one initially but I think Ohio can post a good bounce-back effort here and cover.
