San Diego State vs Cal State-Fullerton 12/8/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The CSU Fullerton Titans and the San Diego State Aztecs meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Viejas Arena. CSU Fullerton is currently 4-4 so far. The Titans are coming off a win over Pacific on Saturday. As for San Diego State, they’re sitting at 5-3 and fresh off a loss to Michigan. CSU Fullerton went 2-2 over their first four games, losing to Santa Clara and San Jose State before wins over George Washington and San Diego. Since then it’s been another 2-2 run for the Titans with wins over Northern Arizona and Pacific. 

In the Pacific matchup on Saturday, CSU Fullerton posted a 31-23 first-half advantage and held the Tigers off from there in a 66-57 win. Leading scorer Tray Maddox put up 21 points with four rebounds and three assists in 31 minutes of work. 

Over on the San Diego State side, they went 4-1 over their first five outings with wins over UC Riverside, Arizona State, TX-Arlington and Georgetown. A 1-2 run followed with a win over Long Beach State between losses to USC and Michigan. 

In the Michigan game, San Diego State was within two points at the break but fell behind 36-24 from there on the way to a 72-58 loss. The team’s only double-digit scorer was Matt Bradley on 22 points, four rebounds and two assists. 

The Aztecs are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games overall and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 after a straight-up loss. The under is 6-2 in San Diego State’s last eight overall. 

Meanwhile, the Titans are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight road games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight Wednesday games. The under is 5-1 in CSUF’s last six overall. 

PICK: I’m probably staying with San Diego State in this one. The Aztecs have had a couple of tough matchups over their last three games, but there are some positives to take from both of the losses. San Diego State is going to have to get their offense moving in this one however; they’ve hit 72 or more points just twice this season. 

CSU Fullerton can score when the matchup is right this season, but it’s been hit and miss for them as well. This should be a fairly competitive game if both teams are on, but I like the Aztecs a little better on the cover.
