Youngstown State vs Central Michigan 12/8/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Central Michigan Chippewas and the Youngstown State Penguins meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Beeghly Center. Central Michigan is just 1-7 so far this year and fresh off a loss to Western Illinois. As for the Penguins, they’re 4-3 on the season. Youngstown State beat Green Bay in their last game. Central Michigan has just the one win so far, a 62-61 affair versus Eastern Illinois on November 15. Aside from that it’s been losses to Missouri, DePaul, Gonzaga, Bellarmine, Kentucky, Xavier and Western Illinois for the Chippewas. 

In the Sunday matchup against the Leathernecks, Central Michigan was outscored 59-31 in the first half on the way to a 97-70 blowout result. Cameron Healy topped the team with 24 points, and Kevin Miller added 15 points with six assists. 

Over on the Youngstown State side, they started off the year at just 2-3 with losses to Penn State, SIU Edwardsville and Niagara. The Penguins have won consecutive games over Milwaukee and Green Bay since then.

Back on Saturday versus Green Bay, Youngstown State posted 40 points in the first half and 42 more from there in a solid 82-58 victory. Tevin Olison was the high scorer on 20 points, and Michael Akuchie put up 17 points with six boards and four assists. 

The Penguins are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven at home and 4-0 ATS in their last four Wednesday games. Youngstown State is 2-5 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up win. 

Meanwhile, the Chippewas are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven overall and 1-3-1 ATS in the last five road games. Central Michigan is 0-3-1 ATS in their last four after an ATS loss. 

PICK: I’m going to stay on Youngstown State. The Penguins have had a few dud games in their losses this season, but there have been some positive results win the team scores well. Youngstown State has 70 or more points in all four of their wins, alongside 66 or fewer in each of their losses. The Penguins should be able to hit that 70-point mark in this one, and if they do it’ll be hard for the Chippewas to keep up.
