Abilene Christian vs Cal State-Bakersfield 12/15/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners and the Abilene Christian Wildcats meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Teague Special Events Center. CSU Bakersfield is 4-2 so far this year. The Roadrunners beat Idaho in their last game. As for Abilene, they’re 6-2 overall and coming off a win over Drexel. Cal State Bakersfield lost two of their first three games this season , falling to UCLA and Northern Arizona in that stretch. Since then it’s been three straight wins, though. The Roadrunners have beaten Colorado College, Boise State and Idaho in that trio. 

Matched up against Idaho, Cal State Bakersfield was up by six at the break. The Roadrunners posted a 32-27 deficit from there but still got the 59-58 win. Justin McCall was the only one in double-digits with 18 points and nine rebounds. 

Over on the Abilene Christian side, they lost to Utah and Texas A&M in their first two. Since then it’s been a win streak over UT-Arlington, McMurry, Schreiner, Dallas, Incarnate Word and Drexel. 

In the Drexel game, the Wildcats got off to a 35-22 halftime lead and cruised to a 73-56 win. Coryon Mason topped the team with 21 points and two rebounds, while Mahki Morris added 11 points and two boards. 

The Wildcats are 21-5 ATS in their last 26 at home and 6-1 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win. Abilene Christian is 4-0 ATS in their last four Wednesday games. 

Meanwhile, the Roadrunners are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six overall. CSU Bakersfield is 0-4 ATS in the last four as a favorite.

PICK: I’m going to try Abilene Christian here. The Wildcats posted a pretty good game against Drexel despite getting out-rebounded 39-34. Abilene shot 41.3 percent from the field, made 8-of-20 from 3-point range (40 percent) and notched 12 team assists. There have been a few nice outings in this win streak. 

As for CSU Bakersfield, they were a bit sluggish in spots against Idaho but they got the job done. I like this one to be a higher-scoring game though, and the Roadrunners are going to have to get the offense moving to stay in range.
