Belmont vs Chattanooga 12/15/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Chattanooga Mocs and the Belmont Bruins meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Curb Event Center. Chattanooga sits at 9-1 on the year so far. The Mocs are coming off a win over Tennessee Wesleyan. As for Belmont, they’re 9-3 on the season and beat Saint Louis in their last appearance. Chattanooga beat LMU, UNC Asheville, Tennessee Tech, VCU and Covenant in their first five games this year. After a loss to Charleston, the Mocs got back on a win streak and took out Tennessee Tech, Lipscomb, UNC Asheville and Tennessee Wesleyan. 

Chattanooga didn’t have any trouble in the Tennessee Wesleyan matchup. The Mocs scored 53 points in the first half and 51 more from there in a 104-55 win. Silvio De Sousa led the team with 20 points and six rebounds in 14 minutes of work. 

Over on the Belmont side, they beat Ohio, Evansville, Furman and Kennesaw State out of the gate this year before a loss to LSU. After wins over Drake and Iona, the Bruins lost to Dayton before beating Lipscomb, Samford and Saint Louis. 

The Bruins posted a 32-26 deficit in the first half of the Saint Louis game but were able to power out a 64-59 win with 38 second-half points. Will Richard led the team on 15 points and six rebounds, while Grayson Murphy added 14 points, nine assists and eight boards. 

The Bruins are 2-5 ATS in their last six Wednesday games and 5-1 ATS in their last six overall. Belmont is 3-1-1 ATS in their last five at home. 

Meanwhile, the Mocs are 36-16 ATS in their last 52 road games and 11-3 ATS in their last 14 Wednesday games. The over is 4-0 in Chattanooga’s last four Wednesday games. 

PICK: I’m going to try Chattanooga in this one. We should have a really good matchup on our hands regardless, though. The Mocs have been scoring very well in most of their games this season. Chattanooga has hit 78 or more points in each of their last four games and they’re playing well since the loss to Charleston. As for Belmont, they shot a solid 44.1 percent from the floor in their last game but were out-rebounded 40-32. This should be another tight matchup, and I like Chattanooga to eke out a cover.
