Arkansas State vs Air Force 12/19/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Air Force Falcons and the Arkansas State Red Wolves meet Sunday in college basketball action from ASU Convocation Center. Air Force comes into this one at 7-2 so far. The Falcons lost to Montana in their last game. As for Arkansas State, they’re 7-3 and fresh off a loss to Texas Tech. Air Force lost their opener to South Dakota, then hit a win streak over Tulsa, TX Southern, Holy Cross, Bethune-Cookman, Denver, Idaho State, and Army. The Falcons’ streak was halted in their last outing with a loss to Montana. 

Matched up against Montana on December 8, the Falcons couldn’t get much going. Air Force scored just 24 in each half on the way to a 66-48 loss. Leading scorer AJ Walker put up 18 points with two rebounds, and Jake Heidbreder added 10 points. 

Over on the Arkansas State side, they went 4-2 over their first six games this year, beating Harding, Central Baptist, Southeast Missouri State and UMKC. After wins over Central AR, AR-Pine Bluff and MS Valley, the Red Wolves lost to Texas Tech. 

In Tuesday’s Texas Tech game, the Red Wolves posted a 45-28 deficit in the first half. Arkansas State couldn’t get much closer in an eventual 75-62 loss. Markise Davis topped the team on 17 points, and Marquis Eaton put up 15 points with five assists. 

The Red Wolves are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS win. Arkansas State is 13-6-1 ATS in their last 20 overall. 

Meanwhile, the Falcons are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five Sunday games. The under is 9-4 in Air Force’s last 13 overall. 

PICK: I’m going to try Arkansas State. You could probably make a case either way here, though; it should be a good matchup. The Red Wolves didn’t have much hope at beating Texas Tech in their last game, but still put up a decent effort with 43.4 percent shooting and 17 team assists. The Red Wolves have been scoring well lately otherwise; they’ve hit 82 or more in three of the last four games. 

As for Air Force, they couldn’t do much in their last game versus Montana but have been quite the strong defensive team otherwise lately. It’ll be interesting to see how well Arkansas State can score here; I think they’ll do well enough to cover.
