The Pacific Tigers and the BYU Cougars meet Thursday in college basketball action from Marriott Center. Pacific is sitting at 5-9 so far. The Tigers lost to California in their last game. As for BYU, they’re 12-3 on the season and beat Westminster UT in their last appearance. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Pacific posted a 4-6 run over their first 10 games this year, taking out Hawaii-Hilo, Stan State, Chicago State and AR-Pine Bluff. It’s been a 1-3 run in the last four games with losses to North Dakota State, UC Davis and California.

In the California game, the Tigers had a 30-25 lead going into the break. Pacific fell behind on a 48-23 run from there in an eventual 73-53 loss. The team’s only double-digit scorer was Jaden Byers with 10 points.

Over on the BYU side, they came out of the gate with a 10-2 run over their first dozen games—the only losses were to Utah Valley and Creighton. After another loss to Vanderbilt, the Cougars took out Liberty and Westminster UT.

Matched up against Westminster UT on December 29, BYU scored 29 points in the first half and 36 more from there in a 65-53 win. Gideon George led the team on 17 points with eight rebounds, and Trevin Knell added 11 points.

The Cougars are 2-5 ATS in their last seven at home and 36-17-2 ATS in their last 55 Thursday games. The over is 6-1 in BYU’s last seven overall.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall and 21-9-1 ATS in the last 31 Thursday games. The over is 5-0 in Pacific’s last five overall.

PICK: I’m going to stick with BYU despite the thick line. The Cougars have had a few uninspiring games over their last quartet or so, but overall the team has played well this year. BYU generally finishes in the high-60s as a baseline points-wise, and I don’t think they’ll have too much trouble scoring against Pacific.

Speaking of the Tigers, they’ve been at 67 points or below in six of their last seven games. It’s going to take quite a push for Pacific to keep up in this one.
