The Bucknell Bison will travel to Alumni Hall (Navy) to take on the Navy Midshipmen this Friday night in College Basketball action.

The Bucknell Bison lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 3-11 on the season after being defeated by the Army Black Knights, 96-89, this past Tuesday. Bucknell has no answers on the defensive end for Army and could not fight back after the Black Knights took an 84-73 lead with 5:31 left in regulation. Bucknell shot 55.7% from the field & 45.8% from beyond the arc while allowing Army to shoot 60.0% from the field & 36.4% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bison was Andrew Funk who had 28 points, 3 rebounds, & 3 assists.

On the season, Bucknell is averaging 72.7 ppg on 45.1% shooting from the field. The Bison are averaging 8.1 three-pointers per game on 35.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Bucknell has been led by Andrew Funk (18.6 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.0 spg), Xander Rice (11.9 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.1 spg), Andre Screen (10.4 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 2.0 apg), & Alex Timmerman (9.7 ppg, 6.6 rpg).

Defensively, Bucknell is allowing their opponents to average 80.9 ppg on 45.3.% shooting from the field. The Bison have a rebound margin of -4.6 and a turnover margin of -5.1.

The Navy Midshipmen won their 2nd straight game and improved to 9-4 on the season after defeating the Boston University Terriers, 83-71, this past Tuesday. Navy was outstanding on the offensive end against Boston University and was able to hold off the Terriers for the victory after taking a 70-61 lead with 6:59 left in regulation. Navy shot 52.5% from the field & 57.9% from beyond the arc while allowing Boston University to shoot 48.0% from the field & 41.2% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Midshipmen was John Carter Jr. who had 23 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, & 1 block.

On the season, Navy is averaging 67.3 ppg on 45.8% shooting from the field. The Midshipmen are averaging 6.4 three-pointers per game on 34.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Navy has been led by John Carter Jr. (14.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.2 spg), Greg Summers (10.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.4 spg), Tyler Nelson (8.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg), & Jaylen Walker (7.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg).

Defensively, Navy is holding their opponents to an average of 59.6 ppg on 40.4% shooting from the field. The Midshipmen have a rebound margin of 6.6 and a turnover margin of 0.3.

The Bison are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games and just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Midshipmen are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 home games vs. a team with a road record and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games.

Bucknell has been led by their offense which ranks 169th in scoring offense & 138th in FG%, however, the Bison have really struggled on the defensive end and come into this game ranked just 344th in scoring defense & 300th in defensive FG%. Navy is led by their defense which ranks 20th in scoring defense & 79th in defensive FG% and although the Midshipmen offense ranks just 277th in scoring offense, Navy does rank 103rd in FG%.

Navy is the better team here, however, this is a team that just doesn’t put up a bunch of points. Bucknell has looked more competitive over the past week with competitive losses at Boston University & at home agianst Army and as I think the Bison offense will be able to do some damage in this one, I think the Bison keeps this one within 10 points agianst covers with the points. Good Luck!
