The Hofstra Pride and the Towson Tigers meet Tuesday in college basketball action from SECU Arena. Hofstra enters this one at 9-6 so far. The Pride beat James Madison in their last game. As for Towson, they’re 10-5 and coming off a win over Northeastern. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Hofstra began the year at an even 5-5 with losses to Houston, Iona, Maryland, Richmond and Stony Brook along the way. Since then it’s been a 4-1 run for the Pride with victories versus John Jay, Arkansas, Monmouth and James Madison.

In the James Madison matchup, the Pride trailed 44-43 going into halftime. Hofstra outscored the Dukes 44-36 from there in an 87-80 comeback win. Aaron Estrada led the team on 20 points, and Abayomi Iyiola added 15 points with 15 rebounds.

Over on the Towson side, they were 3-3 back in late November after losses to Monmouth, Pittsburgh and San Francisco. The Tigers have been on a 7-2 run since then however, beating New Mexico, LIU, Kent State, Coppin State, UNC Greensboro, Navy and Northeastern.

Matched up against Northeastern on Sunday, the Tigers scored 37 points in the first half and 33 more from there in a 70-67 victory. Leading scorer Cameron Holden finished on 18 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.

The Tigers are 5-0 ATS in their last five Tuesday games and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 overall. Towson is 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win.

Meanwhile, the Pride are 36-17-1 ATS in their last 54 road games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall. Hofstra is 6-1 ATS in their last seven Tuesday games.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Hofstra here. The Pride have scored well over their last five games with 77 or more points in four of those. Towson has been hitting the offense well themselves however, with 69 or more points in eight of their last nine. This one looks to me like a higher-scoring game and should be a pretty fun matchup. I think Hofstra has enough offensive talent to bang out a cover, though.
