The UL Monroe Warhawks will travel to the College Park Center to take on the UT Arlington Mavericks this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The UL Monroe Warhawks lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 9-8 on the season after being defeated by the Texas State Bobcats, 80-56, this past Thursday. UL Monroe struggled on both ends of the court against Texas State and could not fight back into the game after going into halftime trailing by a 51-33 margin. UL Monroe shot 32.1% from the field & 23.8% from beyond the arc while allowing Texas State to shoot 50.0% from the field & 52.9% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Warhawks was Nika Metskhvarishvili who had a double-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds, & 1 steal.

On the season, UL Monroe is averaging 77.6 ppg on 47.4% shooting from the field. The Warhawks are averaging 7.4 three-pointers per game on 34.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UL Monroe has been led by Andre Jones (13.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 4.3 apg, 1.7 spg), Russell Harrison (13.3 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.0 spg), Koreem Ozier (12.1 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.3 spg), & Nika Metskhvarishvili (9.8 ppg, 4.1 rpg).

Defensively, UL Monroe is allowing their opponents to average 77.6 ppg on 45.9% shooting from the field. The Warhawks have a rebound margin of -4.5 and a turnover margin of 2.9.

The UT Arlington Mavericks improved to 8-8 on the season after defeating the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, 83-73, this past Thursday. UT Arlington led by a 39-33 margin at halftime and was able to pull away in the 2nd half after taking a 66-56 lead with 5:07 left in regulation. UT Arlington shot 55.7% from the field & 27.3% from beyond the arc while allowing Louisiana to shoot 47.5% from the field & 31.8% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Mavericks was Patrick Mwamba who had 22 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, UT Arlington is averaging 68.1 ppg on 43.6% shooting from the field. The Mavericks are averaging 5.6 three-pointers per game on 30.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UT Arlington has been led by David Azore (17.2 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.6 apg), Patrick Mwamba (9.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.4 spg), Nicolas Elame (7.9 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.3 spg), & Jason Levi (6.2 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 5.0 apg, 1.4 spg).

Defensively, UT Arlington is allowing their opponents to average 69.1 ppg on 39.7% shooting from the field. The Mavericks have a rebound margin of 2.2 and a turnover margin of -2.1.

The Warhawks are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games and just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 January games. The Mavericks are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games.

UL Monroe has been led by their offense which ranks 61st in scoring offense & 45th in FG%, however, the Warhawks have been one of the worst teams in College Basketball defensively as they come into this game ranked just 326th in scoring defense & 313th in defensive FG%. UT Arlington has been led by their defense which ranks 186th in scoring defense, 46th in defensive FG%, & 45th in blocks per game, however, points have been hard to come by at times for the Mavericks as they currently rank just 272nd in scoring offense & 208th in FG%.

UL Monroe is just 2-7 on the road this season and we have seen the Warhawks really struggle on both ends of the court recently in their 24-point loss at Texas State & 30-point loss at Coastal Carolina. UT Arlington has been outstanding ATS at home this season and as I think their defense will be able to slow the Warhawks offense down in this one, I think the Mavericks offense does enough to get us a cover. Good Luck!
