The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and the Texas State Bobcats meet Saturday in college basketball action from Strahan Coliseum. Louisiana is 8-6 on the season. The Cajuns lost to TX-Arlington in their last game. As for Texas State, they’re sitting at 10-4 and beat UL Monroe in their most recent outing. Louisiana hit a 5-5 run over their first 10 games this year with wins over West Florida, Southern Miss, Xavier LA, New Orleans and McNeese State. The Cajuns won three over App State, Coastal Carolina and Arkansas State before the TX-Arlington loss.

On Thursday in the TX-Arlington game, the Cajuns had a 39-33 first-half deficit and trailed 44-40 from there in an 83-73 loss. Kobe Julien led the team on 20 points, and both Doudou Gueye and Trajan Wesley added 13 points apiece.

Over on the Texas State side, they started out at 1-2 before hitting an eight-game win streak from mid-November to mid-December. The Bobcats would then take losses to Houston and Troy (and a two-week break) before a win over UL Monroe.

Matched up against UL Monroe in their last game, Texas State posted 51 points in the first half on the way to an 80-56 blowout victory. Caleb Asberry doubled up on 19 points and 10 rebounds. Both Mason Harrell and Shelby Adams added 14 points apiece.

The Bobcats are 0-4 ATS in their last four after an ATS win and 8-20-1 ATS in their last 29 Saturday games. The under is 4-1 in Texas State’s last five overall.

Meanwhile, the Cajuns are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five road games and 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight overall. The under is 4-1 in Louisiana’s last five road games.

PICK: I’m going to try Texas State here. The Bobcats managed a nice effort Thursday against a decent UL Monroe team. In that one Texas State shot 50 percent from the floor and out-rebounded ULM 42-31.

Louisiana should provide an interesting challenge here, though. The Cajuns can score well when the matchup is right; they’ve hit 71 or more points in three of their last four games. I think this one will be a high-scoring matchup as well, with Texas State eking out a cover.
