The Georgetown Hoyas and the Providence Friars meet Thursday in college basketball action from Dunkin’ Donuts Center. Georgetown is sitting at 6-8 so far this year. The Hoyas lost to St. John’s in their last game. As for Providence, they’re 14-2 and coming off a win over St. John’s. Georgetown managed a 6-4 run over their first 10 games, losing to Dartmouth, San Diego State, St. Joseph’s and South Carolina along the way. Since then, the Hoyas’ last four games have all been losses to TCU, Marquette, Butler and St. John’s.

In the St. John’s matchup, the Hoyas were outscored 43-32 in the first half and 45-37 from there in an 88-69 loss. Leading the way in scoring was Kaiden Rice with 19 points and five boards. Aminu Mohammed added 13 points and 12 rebounds as well.

Over on the Providence side, their season opened on a nice 13-1 run. The only blemish during that stretch was a November 23 loss to Virginia 58-40. The Friars would record another loss to Marquette, but bounced back with a win over St. John’s on January 8.

In the St. John’s matchup, Providence was down by three points at the break. After a second-half surge 48-35 the Friars walked away with an 83-73 win. Nate Watson was tops on 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Jared Bynum put up 18 points.

The Friars are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 overall and 6-1 ATS in their last seven at home. The under is 6-2 in Providence’s last eight overall.

Meanwhile, the Hoyas are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games and 0-4 ATS in their last four overall. The under is 5-1 in Georgetown’s last six road games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Providence in this one. Probably staying away, though; it’s been a while since we’ve seen the Friars in action. In any case, Providence has been putting up some pretty good offensive totals lately. They’ve hit 68 or more points in seven of their last 10 games, going 9-1 during that time. As for Georgetown, they’ve been below 70 in each of their last three but to be fair they’ve also played some pretty good teams. Still, Providence should have plenty of gas on offense here, and I think they can stretch out a cover.
