The Virginia Tech Hokies will travel to Silvio O. Conte Forum to take on the Boston College Eagles this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The Virginia Tech Hokies won their 2nd straight game and improved to 10-7 on the season after defeating the NC State Wolfpack, 62-59, this past Wednesday. Virginia Tech came out the gates on fire, taking an early 15-0 lead and was able to hold off a late NC State charge after taking a 60-53 lead with 2:16 left in regulation. Virginia Tech shot 49.1% from the field & 29.2% from beyond the arc while allowing NC State to shoot 41.1% from the field & 29.6% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Hokies was Justyn Mutts who had 13 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, & 2 blocks.

On the season, Virginia Tech is averaging 69.4 ppg on 46.4% shooting from the field. The Hokies are averaging 8.5 three-pointers per game on 38.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Virginia Tech has been led by Keve Aluma (15.4 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.9 apg), Justyn Mutts (10.5 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.2 spg), Nahiem Alleyne (10.4 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.1 apg), & Hunter Cattoor (9.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.2 spg).

Defensviely, Virginia Tech is holding their opponents to an average of 59.3 ppg on 41.2% shooting from the field. The Hokies have a rebound margin of 1.8 and a turnover margin of 1.4.

The Boston College Eagles dropped to 7-9 on the season after being defeated by the Louisville Cardinals, 67-54, this past Wednesday. Boston College struggled on the offensive end against Louisville and could not fight back after the Cardinals took a 53-44 lead with 8:04 left in regulation. Boston College shot 29.2% from the field & 20.0% from beyond the arc while allowing Louisville to shoot 46.2% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Eagles was Makai Ashton-Langford who had 22 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, & 2 steals.

On the season, Boston College is averaging 67.0 ppg on 42.2% shooting from the field. The Eagles are averaging 5.8 three-pointers per game on 33.1% from beyond the arc. Offensively, Boston College has been led by Makai Ashton-Langford (12.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.4 spg), DeMarr Langford Jr. (10.6 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.1 spg), Jaeden Zackery (9.9 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.4 spg), & T.J. Bickerstaff (8.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.0 spg).

Defensively, Boston College is holding their opponents to an average of 65.9 ppg on 45.0% shooting from the field. The Eagles have a rebound margin of 3.6 and a turnover margin of 0.9.

The Hokies are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games & just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games vs. ACC opponents. The Eagles are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games & 2-4 ATS in their last 6 home games.

Virginia Tech has been led by their defense which comes into this game ranked 14th in scoring defense, 93rd in defensive FG%, & 114th in turnover margin, and although they rank just 236th in scoring offense, the Hokies have shot the ball well as they currently rank 78th in FG% & 15th in 3P-FG%. Boston College has been led by their defense which ranks 97th in scoring defense & 93rd in rebound margin, however, the offense has been an issue for the Eagles as they come into this matchup ranked just 284th in scoring offense, 266th in FG%, & 209th in 3P-FG%.

Virginia Tech has recovered from losing 4 of 5 games to get two quality wins recently against Notre Dame & NC State and although the offense can struggle at times, there is no question that the Hokies are the better team in this one. Boston College offense didn’t look great against Louisville and as I believe those struggles continue against a Virginia Tech defense that is one of the best in the country, I think the Hokies offense does enough to cover this mid-range spread. Good Luck!
