The Bucknell Bison will travel to the Hart Center to take on the Holy Cross Crusaders this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The Bucknell Bison lost their 8th straight game and dropped to 3-16 on the season after being defeated by the Colgate Raiders, 75-56, this past Wednesday. Bucknell trailed by just a 33-29 margin going into halftime, however, the Bison had no answers on either end of the court for the Raiders in the 2nd half and could not fight back after Colgate took a 64-50 lead with 6:55 left in regulation. Bucknell shot 35.2% from the field & 36.4% from beyond the arc while allowing Colgate to shoot 46.7% from the field & 48.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bison was Xander Rice who had 20 points, 1 rebound, 7 assists, & 2 steals.

On the season, Bucknell is averaging 69.2 ppg on 43.7% shooting from the field. The Bison are averaging 7.6 three-pointers per game on 34.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Bucknell has been led by Andrew Funk (17.3 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.2 apg), Xander Rice (11.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 3.9 apg, 1.2 spg), Andre Screen (10.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 2.1 apg), & Elvin Edmonds IV (5.7 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.3 apg).

Defensively, Bucknell is allowing their opponents to average 79.5 ppg on 46.1% shooting from the field. The Bison have a rebound margin of -4.9 and a turnover margin of -4.5.

The Holy Cross Crusaders dropped to 3-13 on the season after being defeated by the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, 77-69, on January 10th. Holy Cross struggled offensively against Lehigh and could not fight back after going into halftime trailing by a 35-26 margin. Holy Cross shot just 33.8% from the field & 22.2% from beyond the arc while allowing Lehigh to shoot 46.3% from the field & 44.4% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Crusaders was Gerrale Gates who had 21 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, & 1 steal.

On the season, Holy Cross is averaging 66.5 ppg on 42.4% shooting from the field. The Crusaders are averaging 5.9 three-pointers per game on 34.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Holy Cross has been led by Gerrale Gates (13.9 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.2 apg), Kyrell Luc (12.1 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.5 spg), Judson Martindale (10.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.1 apg), & Bo Montgomery (7.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.2 apg).

Defensively, Holy Cross is allowing their opponents to average 71.8 ppg on 46.8% shooting from the field. The Crusaders have a rebound margin of -0.1 and a turnover margin of -0.9.

The Bison are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games, however, are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record. The Crusaders are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 & 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.

Bucknell has struggled on both ends of the court this season as the Bison come into this game ranked just 242nd in scoring offense, 340th in scoring defense, & 322nd in defensive FG%. Holy Cross has also struggled on both ends of the court as the Crusaders come into this matchup ranked just 294th in scoring offense, 263rd in FG%, & 259th in scoring defense.

These are two bad basketball teams, however, despite being 0-10 on the road this season, I think we must side with the Bison as their offense is just a bit more dangerous and they get to face a Holy Cross team that hasn’t played a game in almost two weeks. Take Bucknell and the point. Good Luck!
