The UMass Lowell River Hawks will travel to Lundholm Gymnasium to take on the New Hampshire Wildcats this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The UMass Lowell River Hawks improved to 10-7 on the season after defeating the Maine Black Bears, 71-62, this past Wednesday. UMass Lowell led by a 29-26 margin at halftime and was able to pull away in the 2nd half after taking a 62-50 lead with 4:47 left in regulation. UMass Lowell shot 47.3% from the field & 26.3% from beyond the arc while allowing Maine to shoot 42.2% from the field & 27.8% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the River Hawks was Allin Blunt who had 23 points, 4 rebounds, & 1 steal.

On the season, UMass Lowell is averaging 71.6 ppg on 44.5% shooting from the field. The River Hawks are averaging 6.1 three-pointers per game on 29.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UMass Lowell has been led by Kalil Thomas (10.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.0 apg), Everette Hammond (10.2 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.5 spg), Max Brooks (10.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.4 bpg), & Allin Blunt (9.5 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.4 apg).

Defensviely, UMass Lowell is holding their opponents to an average of 62.9 ppg on 38.8% shooting from the field. The River Hawks have a rebound margin of 1.1 and a turnover margin of 2.5.

The New Hampshire Wildcats dropped to 6-6 on the season after being defeated by the Hartford Hawks, 69-57, this past Wednesday. New Hampshire has no answers on the defensive end for Hartford and could not fight back after the Hawks took a 58-42 lead with 9:54 left in regulation. New Hampshire shot 35.7% from the field & 36.4% from beyond the arc while allowing Hartford to shoot 52.0% from the field & 57.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Wildcats was Blondeau Tchoukuiegno who had 10 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, & 1 steal.

On the season, New Hampshire is averaging 70.8 ppg on 43.8% shooting from the field. The Wildcats are averaging 9.5 three-pointers per game on 38.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, New Hampshire has been led by Jayden Martinez (14.8 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.1 apg), Nick Guadarrama (12.2 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.0 apg), Blondeau Tchoukuiegno (10.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 4.5 apg, 1.4 spg), & Nick Johnson (7.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.2 apg).

Defensively, New Hampshire is holding their opponents to an average of 64.4 ppg on 42.7% shooting from beyond the arc. The Wildcats have a rebound margin of 4.2 and a turnover margin of 1.6.

The River Hawks are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Saturday games, however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Wildcats are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up loss & 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Saturday games.

UMass Lowell has been led by their defense which ranks 39th in scoring defense & 19th in defensive FG%, however, the offense has been nothing more than average as they come into this game ranked just 181st in scoring offense & 162nd in FG%. New Hampshire has also been led by their defense which ranks 72nd in scoring defense & 82nd in rebound margin, however, despite being a solid three-point shooting team, the Wildcats come into this matchup ranked just 199th in scoring offense & 199th in FG%.

New Hampshire is 5-0 at home, but when looking at those opponents, it’s not shocking to see why the Wildcats are undefeated at home and I’m a bit concerned about their offense which is averaging just 63.0 ppg over their last three games. UMass Lowell has a solid defense that should give New Hampshire some trouble and as the River Hawks already have an impressive road win at Dayton this season, I think the play here is to take UMass Lowell and the points. Good Luck!
