The Arizona State Sun Devils will travel to Maples Pavilion to take on the Stanford Cardinal this Saturday night in College Basketball action.

The Arizona State Sun Devils snaped a 3-game losing streak and improved to 6-9 on the season after defeating the Utah Utes, 64-62, this past Monday. Arizona State was solid on the defensive end against Utah and was able to secure the victory after Jalen Graham hit a game-winning jumper for the Sun Devils with just :04 seconds left in regulation. Arizona State shot 41.5% from the field & 26.9% from beyond the arc while holding Utah to just 35.1% shooting from the field & 25.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Sun Devils was Kimani Lawrence who had 18 points & 5 rebounds.

On the season, Arizona State is averaging 62.7 ppg on 38.7% shooting from the field. The Sun Devils are averaging 6.3 three-pointers per game on 27.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Arizona State has been led by DJ Horne (13.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.5 apg), Kimani Lawrence (10.9 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.0 spg, 1.1 bpg), Jay Heath (9.8 ppg, 3.8 rpg 1.2 apg), & Marreon Jackson (7.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 3.7 apg, 1.1 spg).

Defensively, Arizona State is holding their opponents to an average of 67.5 ppg on 40.9% shooting from the field. The Sun Devils have a rebound margin of -3.8 and a turnover margin of 1.3.

The Stanford Cardinal lost their 2nd straight game and improved to 10-6 on the season after being defeated by the 3rd ranked Arizona Wildcats, 85-57, this past Thursday night. Stanford had no answers for Arizona on either end of the court and could not fight back after the Wildcats took a 62-38 lead with 12:23 left in regulation. Stanford shot just 30.0% from the field & 30.4% from beyond the arc while allowing Arizona to shoot 55.4% from the field & 28.6% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Cardinal was Spencer Jones who had 9 points, 6 rebounds, & 1 assist.

On the season, Stanford is averaging 69.0 ppg on 44.0% shooting from the field. The Cardinal are averaging 7.1 three-pointers per game on 34.5% shooting from the field. Offensively, Stanford has been led by Harrison Ingram (11.4 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 2.8 apg), Jaiden Delaire (11.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg), Spencer Jones (10.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.2 apg), & Michael O’Connell (6.5 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 3.9 apg).

Defensively, Stanford is allowing their opponents to average 69.7 ppg on 44.4% shooting from the field. The Cardinal have a rebound margin of 8.4 and a turnover margin of 4.0.

The Sun Devils are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games & 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games vs Stanford. The Cardinal are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games, however, are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 Saturday games.

Arizona State has been led by their defense which ranks 141st in scoring defense & 80th in rebound margin, however, the Sun Devils have struggled on the offensive end this season and come into this game ranked just 324th in scoring offense & 339th in FG%. Stanford has been solid on the boards this season, ranking 13th in rebound margin, however, the Cardinal have overall been just average on both ends of the court and currently rank just t-246th in scoring offense & 199th in scoring defensive.

Stanford is 7-1 at home this season, however, the Cardinal didn’t look that impressive on Thursday against Arizona and this is a team that at times can struggle to put up points. Arizona State hasn’t had the season they envisioned to date, however, this is still a team that can give teams issues defensively and does have road wins at Oregon & Creighton. Stanford is the better team, however, as I just think this is too many points, I think the play here is to take Arizona State. Good Luck!
