The BYU Cougars will travel to the Alex G. Spanos Center to take on the Pacific Tigers this Saturday night in College Basketball action.

The BYU Cougars had their 3-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 17-5 on the season after being defeated by the Santa Clara Broncos, 77-76, this past Thursday. BYU led by a 74-70 margin late, however, the Cougars defense struggled down the stretch and Santa Clara was able to pull off a dramatic victory after Jalen Williams hit a game-winning lay-up for the Broncos as time expired. BYU shot 49.2% from the field & 36.4% from beyond the arc while allowing Santa Clara to shoot 46.3% from the field & 31.6% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Cougars was Alex Barcello who had 20 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, BYU is averaging 74.0 ppg on 45.0% shooting from the field. The Cougars are averaging 8.2 three-pointers per game on 36.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, BYU has been led by Alex Barcello (16.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.1 apg), Te’Jon Lucas (10.7 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 4.7 apg), Fousseyni Traore (8.7 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 1.3 bpg), & Gideon George (7.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.4 apg).

Defensively, BYU is holding their opponents to an average of 65.6 ppg on 40.4% shooting from the field. The Cougars have a rebound margin of 7.8 and a turnover margin of -1.3.

The Pacific Tigers lost their 7th straight game and dropped to 5-13 on the season after being defeated by the Portland Pilots, 64-56, this past Thursday. Pacific struggled on the offensive end against Portland and could not fight back after the Pilots took a 57-51 lead with just :51 seconds left in regulation. Pacific shot just 31.6% from the field & 27.3% from beyond the arc while allowing Portland to shoot 42.2% from the field & 26.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Tigers was Alphonso Anderson who had a double-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, & 1 steal.

On the season, Pacific is averaging 65.1 ppg on 41.7% shooting from the field. The Tigers are averaging 6.3 three-pointers per game on 33.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Pacific has been led by Alphonso Anderson (11.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.0 spg), Luke Avdalovic (10.8 ppg, 1.9 rpg), Jeremiah Bailey (9.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.5 spg), & Pierre Crockrell II (7.7 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 4.2 apg, 1.2 spg).

Defensviely, Pacific is allowing their opponents to average 68.7 ppg on 44.4% shooting from the field. The Tigers have a rebound margin of -1.0 and a turnover margin of 1.3.

The Cougars are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games & 4-3 ATS in their last 7 road games. The Tigers are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games & 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games.

BYU has been solid on both ends of the court this season and come into this game ranked 121st in scoring offense, 134th in FG%, 90th in scoring defense, & 55th in defensive FG%. Pacific has been led by their defense which ranks 170th in scoring defense, however, the Tigers have struggled on the offensive end as they come into this game ranked just 305th in scoring offense & 284th in FG%.

BYU had no trouble taking care of business against Pacific at home earlier this season in a 73-51 victory, however, there is no doubt the Cougars have struggled more on the road this season which includes a loss at Utah Valley. Pacific is not a great team, however, this is a lot of points for BYU to cover on the road and as I think the Tigers defense can keep this one within 15 points, I’m taking the Tigers. Good Luck!
