Purdue vs Maryland 2/13/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Maryland Terrapins and the Purdue Boilermakers meet Sunday in college basketball action from Mackey Arena. Maryland is 11-13 on the season thus far. The Terrapins took a loss to Iowa in their last outing. As for Purdue, they’re sitting at 21-4 and coming off a loss to Michigan. Maryland began the year on a decent 8-4 run, but they’ve only been able to win three games since the new calendar year. The Terrapins are currently on a four-game losing streak to Indiana, Michigan State, Ohio State and Iowa. 

On Thursday versus Iowa, the Terrapins gave up 57 points in the first half and another 53 in the second on the way to a 110-87 blowout loss. Fatts Russell led the team with 20 points, and Hakim Hart chipped in 19 points with four boards as well. 

Over on the Purdue side, they’ve stayed pretty steady so far this year. The Boilermakers haven’t lost consecutive games just yet. Purdue recently had a six-game win streak going but saw it snapped in their last game versus Michigan. 

Matched up against the Wolverines on Thursday, the Boilermakers struggled mightily. Purdue notched 29 points in each half and couldn’t keep up in an 82-58 blowout loss. Jaden Ivey was the team’s top scorer on 18 points and three rebounds. 

The Boilermakers are 4-0 ATS in their last four after an ATS loss and the over is 30-12 in their last 42 at home. The over is 6-1 in Purdue’s last seven after an ATS loss. 

Meanwhile, the Terrapins are 1-4 ATS in their last five Sunday games and the over is 6-1-1 in their last eight road games. The over is 7-1 in Maryland’s last eight after an ATS loss. 

PICK: I’m going to try Purdue here. The line is probably too thick to mess with, though. The Boilermakers are coming off their lowest-scoring game of the season in a rough performance. Purdue shot 44 percent from the field versus Michigan and was out-rebounded 35-25 in the blowout loss. 

Maryland should provide a less tricky opponent for the Boilermakers, though. The Terrapins have been at 67 points or fewer in three of their last four, so there should be plenty of opportunities for Purdue to stay in front if the team can shake off the bad loss.
