Louisiana Tech vs UTSA 2/19/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The UTSA Roadrunners and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Thomas Assembly Center. UTSA is coming off a Thursday matchup versus Southern Miss. In that one the Roadrunners managed a 19-point win. As for Louisiana Tech, they played UTEP in their Thursday game. The Bulldogs would end up losing by three points. UTSA hit a 6-4 stretch through their first 10 games, but they’ve been unable to win consecutive outings since then. The Roadrunners started February on a losing streak, falling to Florida Atlantic, Rice, North Texas, Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky in succession. 

Matched up against Southern Miss on Thursday, the Roadrunners tied the game 38-38 in each half and needed overtime to decide things. UTSA dominated the extra period in a 98-79 win. Dhieu Deng led the team with a double on 26 points and 10 boards.

Over on the Louisiana Tech side, they hit a 15-3 stretch through their first 18 games, but then lost three of four to UAB, North Texas and FAU. After that the Bulldogs bounced back with consecutive wins over Florida International and Charlotte. 

On Thursday versus UTEP, the Bulldogs were down by just one point by the break. Louisiana Tech didn’t end up getting any closer in a 63-60 loss, however. Cobe Williams managed 19 points, and Kenneth Lofton doubled on 12 points and 16 boards. 

The Bulldogs are 1-4 ATS in their last five overall and 1-4 ATS in the last five Saturday games. The over is 4-1 in LA Tech’s last five overall. 

Meanwhile, the Roadrunners are 8-19 ATS in the last 27 road games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 overall. UTSA is 1-7 ATS in their last eight games after a straight-up win. 

PICK: I’m going to stay with Louisiana Tech here. The Bulldogs are coming off a flat effort against UTEP, but generally they’ve stayed competitive during this sketchy 3-4 run. The last time these squads met up back on January 8, Louisiana Tech secured a 79-63 road victory. This rematch might not be so simple, but I still like the Bulldogs to get it together and cover.
