The Toledo Rockets will travel to University Arena (MI) to take on the Western Michigan Broncos this Tuesday night in College Basketball action.

The Toledo Rockets improved to 21-6 on the season after defeating the Central Michigan Chippewas, 68-66, this past Saturday. Toledo had all they could handle from Central Michigan, despite being 20-point favorites, however, the Rockets were able to avoid the upset loss after a JT Shumate dunk gave Toledo a 67-61 lead with :59 seconds left in regulation. Toledo shot 44.1% from the field & 36.4% from beyond the arc while allowing Central Michigan to shoot 39.7% from the field & 30.4% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Rockets was JD Shumate who had 29 points, 7 rebounds, & 3 assists.

On the season, Toledo is averaging 80.0 ppg on 47.7% shooting from the field. The Rockets are averaging 6.8 three-pointers per game on 35.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Toledo has been led by Ryan Rollins (19.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 3.6 apg, 1.8 spg), JT Shumate (15.7 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.3 bpg), Setric Millner Jr. (14.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.0 apg), & RayJ Dennis (12.6 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 3.8 apg).

Defensively, Toledo is allowing their opponents to an average of 69.0 ppg on 40.2% shooting from the field. The Rockets have a rebound margin of 4.8 and a turnover margin of 0.4.

The Western Michigan Broncos had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 6-21 on the season after being defeated by the Buffalo Bulls, 87-73, this past Saturday. Western Michigan led by a 38-33 margin at halftime, however, the Broncos had no answers defensively for the high-powered Buffalo offense in the 2nd half and could not fight back after the Bulls took a 73-54 lead with 7:45 left in regulation. Western Michigan shot 50.9% from the field & 37.0% from beyond the arc while allowing Buffalo to shoot 48.5% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Broncos was Lamar Norman Jr. who had 23 points, 4 rebounds, & 3 assists.

On the season, Western Michigan is averaging 65.4 ppg on 42.4% shooting from the field. The Broncos are averaging 8.2 three-pointers per game on 33.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Western Michigan has been led by Lamar Norman Jr. (20.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 1.8 apg), Markeese Hastings (8.9 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 1.1 apg), B. Artis White (7.5 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.2 spg), & Mileek McMillan (7.2 ppg, 3.4 rpg).

Defensively, Western Michigan is allowing their opponents to average 75.8 ppg on 46.2% shooting from the field. The Broncos have a rebound margin of -2.4 and a turnover margin of -4.0.

The Rockets are 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games & 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games vs. Western Michigan. The Broncos are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games, however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. Toledo.

Toledo has struggled over the past week, however, this is no question that the Rockets aren’t one of the best teams in the MAC, led by an offense that ranks t-16th in scoring offense & 27th in FG%. Western Michigan has struggled on both ends of the court this season as the Broncos rank just 302nd in scoring offense & t-313th in scoring defense. Western Michigan has been competitive lately, which includes a 61-57 win vs. Akron, however, Toledo was able to defeat Western Michigan by a 27-point margin earlier this season and as I think the Rockets will be able to put up another 85+ points against Western Michigan, I’m taking Toledo to cover this large road spread. Good Luck!
