The UCLA Bruins and the Oregon Ducks meet Thursday in college basketball action from Matthew Knight Arena. UCLA holds a 20-5 record so far this year. The Bruins beat Arizona State in their last game. UCLA was only able to play one game (a win) from December 1 to January 6 this season but they ended up with a 16-2 run through 18 games. The Bruins hit a 1-3 run before taking wins over Washington State, Washington and Arizona State in succession.
Matched up against Arizona State on Monday, the Bruins posted 34 points in the first half and 32 more from there in a 66-52 victory. Jaylen Clark and Jules Bernard each scored a team-high 16 points, combining for 13 rebounds as well.
Over on the Oregon side, they went just 6-6 over the first dozen games this year but they’ve gotten better since then. The Ducks are just 1-3 in their last four games, though. The losses in that time came to California, Arizona State and Arizona.
In the Arizona game, Oregon held a slim two-point lead by the break. The Ducks fell behind on a 34-39 run in the second on the way to an 84-81 loss. Will Richardson was the top team scorer on his 22 points and three rebounds.
The Ducks are 1-4 ATS in their last five at home and 3-8 ATS in the last 11 after an ATS win. Oregon is 1-5 ATS in the last six overall.
Meanwhile, the Bruins are 2-5 ATS in their last six road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. The under is 5-0 in UCLA’s last five after an ATS win.
PICK: I’m going to try UCLA here. The Bruins had some tough games early this month but were still completive for the most part; one loss was a triple-overtime affair and another came by just three points. The last time these teams met up was back on January 13 in an 84-81 overtime road win for Oregon. With UCLA playing better over this 10-3 stretch, I like the Bruins to get some revenge here and power into a road cover. Should be a great matchup and a fun game to watch.
