The Morgan State Bears will travel to the Physical Education Complex to take on the Coppin State Eagles this Thursday night in College Basketball action.

The Morgan State Bears won their 3rd straight game and improved to 11-13 on the season after defeating the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks, 82-48, this past Monday night. Morgan State dominated Maryland-Eastern Shore on both sides of the court throughout the game and had no trouble securing the victory after going into halftime with a 46-24 lead. Morgan State shot 59.6% from the field & 46.7% from beyond the arc while holding Maryland-Eastern Shore to just 35.3% from the field & 18.2% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bears was Lagio Grantsaan who had 19 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, & 2 steals.

On the season, Morgan State is averaging 76.2 ppg on 44.0% shooting from the field. The Bears are averaging 6.5 three-pointers per game on 31.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Morgan State has been led by Malik Miller (12.4 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.5 spg), De’Torrion Ware (11.2 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.0 spg), Lagio Grantsaan (10.8 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.4 apg), & Isaiah Burke (7.9 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.5 spg).

Defensively, Morgan State is allowing their opponents to average 72.8 ppg on 43.8% shooting from the field. The Bears have a rebound margin of 0.5 and a turnover margin of 4.2.

The Coppin State Eagles improved to 7-21 on the season after defeating the Delaware State Hornets, 80-67, this past Monday. Coppin State was outstanding offensively in the 2nd half against Delaware State and was able to pull away for the victory after taking a 58-41 lead with 10:41 left in regulation. Coppin State shot 44.6% from the field & 40.0% from beyond the arc while holding Delaware State to 37.5% shooting from the field & 25.9% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Eagles was Sita Conteh who had 22 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, & 2 steals.

Offensively, Coppin State has been led by Jesse Zarzuela (14.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.2 spg), Tyree Corbett (13.0 ppg, 8.8 rpg), Nendah Tarke (12.9 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 2.4 apg, 3.0 spg), & Kyle Cardaci (7.8 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.4 spg). Coppin State will be without Jesse Zarzuela who is out indefinitely due to an undisclosed injury while Tyree Corbett is questionable after missing the Eagles last game against Delaware State.

Defensively, Coppin State is allowing their opponents to average 75.9 ppg on 42.4% shooting from the field. The Eagles have a rebound margin of -8.9 and a turnover margin of -0.2.

The Bears are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall, however, are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games. The Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Thursday games & 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games.

Coppin State was able to pick up a much-needed win against Delaware State, however, this is still a team that has lost 5 of their last 7 games and come into this game ranked just 268th in scoring offense, 346th in FG%, & 316th in scoring defense. Morgan State has won 4 of their last 5 games and has been outstanding on the offensive end this season, ranking 57th in scoring offense & 188th in FG%. Morgan State was defeated by Coppin State by a 79-76 margin earlier this season, however, between the fact that Coppin State could be without their top two scorers and that Morgan State has bene playing some of their best basketball of the season as of late, I think the play here is to take the Bears and the points. Good Luck!
