Chattanooga vs The Citadel 3/5/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Citadel Bulldogs and the Chattanooga Mocs meet in college basketball action from the Harrah’s Cherokee Center-Asheville on Saturday afternoon.

The Citadel Bulldogs will look to build on their 84-76 OT win over East Tennessee State last time out. Hayden Brown leads the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounding with 18.5 PPG and 9.4 RPG while Jason Roche has 13.3 PPG with 4 RPG and Tyler Moffe has 10.7 PPG with a team-high 4 APG to lead the Citadel in assists this year and to cap off the scoring in double figures for the Citadel this season. Stephen Clark also has 9.8 PPG with 6 RPG this season. As a team, the Citadel is averaging 76.9 PPG on 44.5% shooting from the field, 35.4% from three and 67.3% from the foul line while allowing 77.1 PPG on 43.1% shooting from the field and 33.2% from three this season.

The Chattanooga Mocs come into the conference tournament as the top seed, finishing at 24-7 overall including a 14-4 mark in SoCon play this season. Malachi Smith leads the Mocs in scoring and assists with 20.3 PPG and 3.2 APG while David Jean-Baptiste has 14.6 PPG and Silvio De Sousa has 11.2 PPG with a team-high 6.8 RPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for Chattanooga so far this season. As a team, Chattanooga is averaging 75.1 PPG on 46.8% shooting from the field, 35.4% from three and 74.7% from the foul line while allowing 65 PPG on 42.1% shooting from the field and 29.9% from three this season.

This time slot won’t give us much time for betting before a line is released, but once it is, I’m backing Chattanooga here. The Mocs won both meetings handily between these two teams this season, also covering both games in the process and a lot of that has to do with the untrustworthy defense of the Citadel. I just think we have a spot here where the Mocs complete the trifecta and bounce the Citadel from the tournament in convincing fashion once again. Give me the Mocs here.
