UNC Wilmington vs Charleston 3/7/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Charleston Cougars and the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks meet in college basketball action from the Entertainment & Sports Arena on Monday night.

The Charleston Cougars come into this one off of a 92-76 win over Hofstra in their last game. John Meeks leads the Cougars in scoring with 13.7 PPG along with 4.6 RPG while Reyne Smith has 12.4 PPG and Brenden Tucker has 11.4 PPG this season. Dimitrius Underwood also has 11.4 PPG with a team-high 6.8 RPG and 3.7 APG to lead the Cougars in rebounding and assists as well as capping off the group of double-digit scorers for Charleston so far this season. As a team, Charleston is averaging 78.4 PPG on 43.7% shooting from the field, 33.7% from three and 73.3% from the foul line while allowing 77 PPG on 45.5% shooting from the field and 34.1% from three this season.

The UNC-Wilmington Seahawks will attempt to build on a four-game win streak after a 75-58 win over Elon last time out. Jaylen Sims leads the Seahawks in scoring and rebounding with 15.7 PPG and 5.6 RPG while Mike Okauru has 12.8 PPG and a team-high 2.3 APG and Shykeim Phillips also has 11.3 PPG and 3.7 RPG as well to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for UNC-Wilmington this season. As a team, UNC Wilmington is averaging 71.1 PPG on 41.8% shooting from the field, 32.5% from three and 72.5% from the foul line while allowing 69 PPG on 44.7% shooting from the field and 37% from three this season.

I get the case to be made either way here, as these late round tournament games can always be a crap shoot with the best of the best making it, but I’m leaning towards UNCW as the Seahawks continue to find ways to get it done. Charleston’s a solid offensive team and it’ll be interesting to see how the Seahawks try to counter on the back-to-back, but UNCW won both meetings in the regular season and I look for them to complete the trifecta here.
