Auburn vs Georgia State 12/14/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Georgia State Panthers and the Auburn Tigers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Auburn Arena. Georgia State is 5-4 overall this year. The Panthers lost to Northeastern in their last game. As for Auburn, they’re 8-1 on the season and coming off a loss to Memphis. Georgia State posted a 2-2 run over their first four games this year, losing to Georgia Tech and Eastern Kentucky. The Panthers would then hit a 3-1 run with wins over Texas A&M-Commerce, UNC Asheville and Middle Georgia State. 

Back on December 4 versus Northeastern, Georgia State took a rough loss. The Panthers scored just 17 points in the first half and 29 in the second for a 66-46 defeat. Ja’Heim Hudson led the team on 11 points with eight rebounds. 

Over on the Auburn side, they kicked off the year with an eight-game win streak over George Mason, South Florida, Winthrop, Texas Southern, Bradley, Northwestern, Saint Louis and Colgate before a loss to Memphis. 

In the Memphis game over the weekend, Auburn was down 38-32 by the break. Auburn didn’t get any closer in the second half after a 44-41 deficit and lost 82-73. KD Johnson and Wendell Green each scored 14 points to lead the team. 

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Auburn, but the line’s a little too thick to mess with. The Tigers are coming off a rough outing versus Memphis, shooting a tepid 38.1 percent from the field and getting out-rebounded 43-32 (14-11 offensive). Auburn had been playing with fire prior to that, however; they’d won two of the previous three games by five points or fewer. The good news is that the Tigers should certainly be able to handle Georgia State. The Panthers have scored 66 or fewer points in four of their last six games, so if Auburn hits the tempo hard in this one Georgia State won’t be able to keep up.
