The Stony Brook Seawolves and the Bryant Bulldogs meet Friday in college basketball action from Chace Athletic Center. Stony Brook enters this one at 2-6 overall. The Seawolves are coming off a loss to Yale. As for Bryant, they’re 6-3 after a loss to Cincinnati in their last game. Stony Brook beat Miami-Hamilton in their second game of the year, but otherwise lost to Florida, Rhode Island, FIU, Brown and Eastern Washington in their first six games. The Seawolves took out St. Joseph’s Long Island in game seven.

Stony Brook landed back in the loss column Saturday versus Yale. The Seawolves trailed 42-36 by the break and didn’t catch up in a 77-72 defeat. Leading scorer Tyler-Stephenson-Moore put up 21 points and seven boards.

Over on the Bryant side, they beat Thomas (ME), Dartmouth, FIU, Detroit, Syracuse and Framingham State in their first seven outings. After a loss to Brown on December 2, the Bulldogs lost to Cincinnati in their most recent game.

On Sunday versus the Bearcats, Bryant was down 40-24 by the break and was outscored 57-47 in the second half during a 97-71 defeat. Charles Pride posted 23 points, and Antwan Walker added 11 points with 12 rebounds.

PICK: I’m probably staying with Bryant. The Bulldogs were overmatched in their last game versus Cincinnati, shooting just 29.9 percent from the field and getting out-rebounded 56-41. Bryant has had two consecutive outings with rough results, but the Bulldogs will match up much better here. As for Stony Brook, they did a relatively solid job against Yale but normally they’re not a big-scoring team this year. I don’t think they’ll keep up cover-wise.
