CSU-Bakersfield vs Fresno State 12/20/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Fresno State Bulldogs and the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Icardo Center. Fresno State is 3-7 overall on the season. The Bulldogs lost to Sacramento State in their last appearance. As for CSU Bakersfield, they’re 4-6 this year and coming off a loss to Abilene Christian. Fresno State has wins over Fresno Pacific, UC Irvine and CSU Northridge this year. The losses otherwise have come to UCSB, San Francisco, North Texas, Washington, Vanderbilt, Pacific and Sacramento State. 

In the Sac State matchup on Saturday, the Bulldogs trailed 24-23 by the break. Fresno State couldn’t get any closer on a 35-30 deficit and lost 59-53. Jordan Campbell was the leading scorer on 13 points and three boards. 

Over on the CSU Bakersfield side, they’ve beaten only SDCC, Idaho, Texas A&M-CC and La Sierra this year. Their losses have come to Utah, UTEP, Alcorn State, Dartmouth, San Jose State and Abilene Christian. 

Matched up against Abilene Christian in their last game, CSU Bakersfield was up 31-15 going into the second half. The Roadrunners were drilled 50-28 from there and lost 65-59. Travis Henson topped the team on 15 points and eight rebounds.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Fresno State but probably not going near this one. The bad news is that there’s not a whole lot of intrigue here; both teams are struggling so far. That said, it should be a pretty good matchup if both teams play well. The Roadrunners are coming off a miserable second half versus Abilene Christian in their last game. CSUB has failed to hit 60 points in four of their last five outings; it’s been a miserable run. As for the Bulldogs, they’ve scored a little better with 72 or more points in two of their last four. Fresno probably has the advantage on offense but there’s no telling what will happen in this one.
