The Jacksonville Dolphins and the Duke Blue Devils meet Monday in college basketball action from Cameron Indoor Stadium. Jacksonville went 21-10 last season, landing in second place in the East Division of the ASUN Conference. As for Duke, they went 32-7 overall in 2021-22 and made it to the Final Four. Jacksonville had a pretty successful campaign in a crowded ASUN Conference last season. The Dolphins finished 21-10 overall with a 11-5 in conference play. That result left Jacksonville in second place in the East Division behind Liberty (12-4).

The Dolphins came out of non-conference play at 8-4 overall last year. Jacksonville had a three-game losing streak in January, but otherwise didn’t lose consecutive games the rest of the year. The Dolphins ultimately lost to Bellarmine in the ASUN Tournament championship.

Over on the Duke side, they made it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019 last year. The Blue Devils would finish 32-7 overall and 16-4 in the ACC. That result put Duke atop the standings in the conference, one game ahead of rival North Carolina.

Duke stayed consistent all season last year and didn’t lose consecutive games. The Blue Devils lost to Virginia Tech in the ACC Championship, but they did some damage in the national tourney. Duke got all the way to the Final Four, where they again lost to North Carolina 81-77.

The Dolphins are 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 overall and 0-6 ATS in their last six Monday games. Duke is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 at home and the over is 9-2 in their last 11 overall.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Jacksonville here. The Dolphins are coming off a nice run last year, and they return just about every key player (notably minus Tyreese Davis). That should help Jacksonville keep a relative pace against a Duke team full of fresh faces—not the least of which being longtime assistant Jon Scheyer, who takes over for the legendary Mike Krzyzewski. There’s plenty of talent on the roster but Scheyer will start over basically from scratch, as Jeremy Roach is the lone returning piece from last year’s squad. It should be interesting to see what this year’s Blue Devils team looks like.
