The Youngstown State Penguins and the Navy Midshipmen meet Sunday in college basketball action from Navy Alumni Hall. Youngstown State is fresh off a Saturday matchup versus UC San Diego. In that one the Penguins took a blowout win. As for Navy, they’re 3-1 on the year and took out UC San Diego in their last matchup on Friday. Youngstown State went 2-0 over their first pair of games. The Penguins beat Canisius 92-81 and TN-Martin 90-72. After an 88-81 loss to Notre Dame, the Penguins got back into the win column versus Grace Bible College 96-68.

In the UC San Diego game on Saturday, Youngstown State was down 37-32 going into the second half. The Penguins rallied for a 41-17 run from there and took a 73-54 comeback win. Dwayne Cohill led the team with 18 points and two steals.

Over on the Navy side, they managed a 74-59 win over William & Mary in their first game of the year. The Midshipmen would have a tough battle in a 74-73 win over Princeton, then fall to Coppin State 75-68 in game three.

Matched up against UC San Diego on Friday, the Midshipmen were outscored 35-30 in the second half and needed overtime. Navy scored 20 points in the extra period and won 78-69. Daniel Deaver led the team on 19 points with eight boards.

PICK: I’m likely going with Navy. The Midshipmen are coming off a sketchy overtime win against a UC San Diego team they probably should have beaten in regulation. Navy shot a tepid 37.3 percent from the field in that one but won the rebounding battle 45-38. Provided the Midshipmen can get that shooting percentage into the 40s in this one I think they’ll be fine on a potential cover. Youngstown State also seems a little sketchy coming off the weak first half in the Saturday victory.
