North Carolina vs Michigan 12/21/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Michigan Wolverines and the UNC Tar Heels meet in college basketball action from the Spectrum Center on Wednesday night.

The Michigan Wolverines will look to build on an 83-75 win over Lipscomb in their last game. Hunter Dickinson leads the Wolverines in scoring and rebounding with 19.1 PPG and 8.4 RPG while Jett Howard has 15.5 PPG aand Kobe Bufkin’s also chipping in 11.4 PPG with 3.7 RPG and a team-high 2.8 APG to lead the Wolverines in the assist department and to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Michigan so far this season. As a team, Michigan is averaging 77.4 PPG on 46% shooting from the field, 35.7% from three and 66.3% from the foul line this season.

The UNC Tar Heels will try to build on an 89-84 OT win over Ohio State in their last game. Caleb Love is averaging a team-high 18.3 PPG along with 4.2 RPG and 3.7 APG to lead the Tar Heels in the scoring and assists department up to this point in the season while Armando Bacot has 17.5 PPG with a team-high 11.6 RPG to lead the Tar Heels on the glass, averaging a double-double per game. R.J. Davis has 15.7 PPG with 5.4 RPG and 3.1 APG while Pete Nance has 12.6 PPG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for North Carolina up to this point in the season. Leaky Black also has 6.3 PPG and 5.7 RPG for the Tar Heels this season. As a team, North Carolina is averaging 81.6 PPG on 45.6% shooting from the field, 30.4% from behind the arc and 75% from the foul line this season.

Michigan is 35-15-2 ATS in their last 52 neutral site games and 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games following a win while the over is 25-12 in their last 37 games overall. UNC is 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 neutral site games and 15-6-2 ATS in their last 23 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following an ATS win.

This should be a great matchup between two of the better big men in the country in Michigan’s Hunter Dickinson and UNC’s Armando Bacot. That being said, I think those two cancel each other out, so when you give me the rest of the lineups side-by-side, I’d rather have North Carolina’s depth. That’s not to say that Michigan isn’t a good team, I just think that the Tar Heels are better and while this is technically a neutral site game, it is a couple of hours away from North Carolina’s campus so I expect the Tar Heel faithful to show up and show out in full force here.
