The Mercer Bears and the Robert Morris Colonials meet Friday in college basketball action from Enmarket Arena. Mercer is 2-3 on the year so far and coming off a loss to Florida State. As for Robert Morris, they’re sitting at 2-2 this season. The Colonials lost to Dayton in their last game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Mercer opened up the year with a tough loss, falling 77-75 to East Carolina. The Bears picked up a win in game two versus Milligan, then fell to Georgia State 85-83. Game four was another win, this time 77-68 versus Winthrop.

On Monday in the Florida State game, Mercer trailed 42-34 going into the break. The Bears scored 38 points in the second half but ended up with an 81-72 loss. Jalyn McCreary led the team on 20 points and six rebounds.

Over on the Robert Morris side, they kicked off the year with a tough matchup versus Ohio State and a 91-53 defeat. The Colonials would win their next pair however, taking out Pitt-Greensburg and WV Wesleyan.

On Saturday versus Dayton, Robert Morris picked up another loss. The Colonials posted a 30-21 deficit in the first half and limited to a 60-51 defeat. Enoch Cheeks finished with 15 points, and Kahliel Spear added 11 points with 11 boards.

PICK: I’m going to try Mercer I suppose. Probably not touching this one, though; it should be a pretty close matchup. Mercer shot 39.4 percent from the field with 32 rebounds and 19 assists in the loss to Florida State . The Bears didn’t play terribly, but they spent most of the game in catchup mode. Robert Morris should be a much more comparable opponent, and I like Mercer to keep the Colonials in check during a cover.
