The Saint Peter’s Peacocks and the St. Joseph’s Hawks meet in college basketball action from the Hagan Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Saint Peter’s Peacocks will look to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 67-55 loss to Fairfield last time out. The St. Joseph’s Hawks will look to bounce back after back-to-back losses after a 70-60 loss to Temple last time out. Erik Reynolds II leads the Hawks in scoring with 19.5 PPG while Cameron Brown has 12.1 PPG with 5.8 RPG this season. Lynn Greer III has 10.3 PPG with a team-high 3.4 APG to lead the Hawks in assists and to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Saint Joseph’s up to this point in the season. Kacper Klaczek also has a team-high 6.5 RPG to lead the Hawks on the glass this season. As a team, Saint Joseph’s is averaging 69.6 PPG on 40.9% shooting from the field, 33.3% from three and 68.6% from the foul line this season.
Saint Peter’s is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning percentage below .400 while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 road games. Saint Joseph’s is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games following a loss.
I get the reasoning for looking at the underdog here and I’m not really rushing to back Saint Joseph’s, but both teams have struggled, and it’s been Saint Peter’s that’s really looked like they’re struggling with finding a new identity in the post Shaheen Holloway era. Saint Joseph’s has some solid scoring options and I just don’t know if the Peacocks will be able to do enough defensively to keep this one close. Give me the Hawks in this one.
