The Utah State Aggies and the San Diego Toreros meet in college basketball action from the Jenny Craig Pavilion on Thursday night.
The Utah State Aggies will try to keep their perfect record in tact after a 96-74 win over Santa Clara last time out. Taylor Funk led the Aggies with 22 points on 9 of 16 shooting with 4 threes and a team-high 11 rebounds with 3 assists and 5 steals for the double-double while Shane Ashworth had 18 points on 6 of 8 shooting with 4 threes, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Dan Akin added 13 points on 5 of 7 shooting with a pair of blocks and Trevin Dorius added 11 points to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Utah State in the win. Rylan Jones also added 9 points on 3 threes with a team-high 8 assists as well.
The San Diego Toreros will look to remain unbeaten after a 74-64 win over NJIT last time out. Jase Townsend led the Toreros with 21 points on 8 of 15 shooting with 4 threes while Eric Williams Jr. had a 16 points with a team-high 12 rebounds for the double-double. Jaiden Delaire added 15 points with 3 threes and 7 rebounds while Marcellus Earlington added 12 points to round out the group of double-digit scorers for San Diego in the win. I get the reasoning for backing San Diego at home, but the problem I have is that Utah State’s done much better with their results against the tougher schedule here. No disrespect to San Diego State but the Aggies have rolled through their first three games no problem and I think they make it four. I just like the build of this Aggies team and think they’re primed to do some damage this season. Give me the Aggies on the road.
