The Canisius Golden Griffins and the Toledo Rockets meet in college basketball action from the Savage Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The Canisius Golden Griffins will try to snap a four-game losing skid after a 90-60 loss to Iona last time out. Jamir Moultrie leads the Golden Griffins in scoring with 13.2 PPG while Tahj Staveskie has 13 PPG and Jordan Henderson has 12.4 PPG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Canisius up to this point in the season with Staveskie logging a team-high 3.6 APG as well to lead Canisius in assists. Xzavier Long also has a team-high 5.6 RPG to lead the Golden Griffins on the glass this season. As a team, Canisius is averaging 73.3 PPG on 40.3% shooting from the field, 37.9% from three and 69.2% from the foul line this season.

The Toledo Rockets will be out to build on an 83-76 win over Northern Iowa last time out. JT Shumate leads Toledo in scoring with 19.4 PPG and 3.9 RPG while RayJ Dennis has 18 PPG with a team-high 5.8 APG to lead the Rockets in assists up to this point in the season.  Setric Millner Jr. has 15 PPG and a team-high 7.3 RPG to lead the Rockets on the glass while Dante Maddox Jr. has 10.3 PPG with 3.3 RPG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Toledo up to this point in the year. As a team, Toledo is averaging 84.9 points per game on 48.5% shooting from the field, 37.8% from three point range and 78.8% from the foul line this season.

Canisius is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a loss while the under is 21-5 in their last 26 games following a loss by 20 or more points. Toledo is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 47-23-1 ATS in their last 71 games overall while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games following an ATS win.

I get the case to be made either way here, and I do lean Toledo’s way as they have one of the more overlooked and efficient offenses in the country, but I think I like the over here just a bit more. The Toledo defense is what really gives me pause here, and I just don’t know if Toledo can do enough to keep Canisius fully at bay here. We’ve seen multiple times where Toledo’s won, but the defensive issues have stood in the way between them and a cover. I think this could be another one of those times. Give me the over.
