TX-Arlington vs North Texas 12/6/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The North Texas Mean Green and the Texas-Arlington Mavericks meet Tuesday in college basketball action from College Park Center. North Texas enters this one at 6-2 overall. The Mean Green took out Omaha in their last game. As for Texas-Arlington, they’re currently 4-5 and coming off a los to LSU. North Texas took a loss to Saint Mary’s in their second game this year, then rattled off wins over Fresno State, Paul Quinn, San Jose State and Long Beach State. After another loss to UNC Wilmington, the Mean Green beat Omaha on Saturday. 

In the Omaha game, the Green went into the locker room with a 29-22 lead. North Texas hit a 46-23 run from there in a 75-45 win. Leading scorer Abou Ousmane led the team with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Aaron Scott added 11 points and nine boards. 

Over on the Texas-Arlington side, they went 3-3 over their first six games, taking out Southwestern Texas, Hardin-Simmons and Northern Kentucky in that stretch. The Mavericks would then lose to East Carolina and beat Howard Payne. 

On Friday versus LSU, Texas-Arlington took another loss. The Mavericks trailed 29-22 and ended up losing 63-59 despite 37 second-half points. Marion Humphrey led the team on 15 points with four assists and three rebounds. 

PICK: I’m going to stay with North Texas in this one. The Green are fresh off a nice effort versus a struggling Omaha team, posting 44.1 percent shooting from the field, 13-of-16 (81.3 percent) from the line and a 47-26 rebounding advantage. North Texas has had a few offensive duds this year but they’ve been scoring fairly well over the last five games (68 or more points in four of those). If the Mean Green are playing to their capabilities in this one, they shouldn’t have too much trouble posting a cover on the road.
