UTEP vs Alcorn State 11/22/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Alcorn State Braves and the UTEP Miners meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Don Haskins Center. Alcorn State enters this one at 2-1 after a win over Stephen F. Austin in their last outing. As for UTEP, they’re 2-1 as well following a win over Sul Ross State last week. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Alcorn State opened up their year with a matchup versus Ole Miss. The Braves kept pace in the first half but ultimately fell 73-58. In game two versus Wichita State, Alcorn State posted a 38-26 second-half edge in a 66-57 win. 

In their third outing of the year last Tuesday versus Stephen F. Austin, the Braves managed a 41-36 run in the second half on the way to a 69-60 victory. Alcorn State’s Dominic Brewton led the team with 14 points and seven rebounds in the win. 

Over on the UTEP side, they had a rough opener matchup versus Texas. The Miners predictably fell in that one 72-57. In game two versus New Mexico State, UTEP got their first win 67-64 after a 39-31 first half. 

Last Tuesday in game three versus Sul Ross State, the Miners jumped out to a 47-30 lead by halftime. UTEP hit a 52-29 run the rest of the way in a 99-59 win. Otis Frazier posted 23 points with four rebounds and Jamari Sibley had 13 points with four boards. 

PICK: I’m probably sticking with Alcorn State. This should be a pretty good matchup, though; I could probably go either way. That said, the Braves haven’t exactly been scoring dynamos through three games so far this year, but they’re doing well on defense. Alcorn State hasn’t hit more than 70 points yet this year however, and that could harm the team once they start facing the more high-octane opponents. That said, Alcorn State should be able to hang with UTEP and keep the cover pace.
