VCU vs Morgan State 11/12/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Morgan State Bears and the VCU Rams meet Saturday in college basketball action from Siegel Center. Morgan State is 1-1 so far this year and coming off a win over Penn State Greater Allegheny. Morgan State kicked off their 2022-23 season with a matchup versus Xavier. The Bears were outpaced 50-26 in the first half alone and limped to the 96-73 loss. leading the way were Isaiah Burke and David McCullough, each with 16 points. 

In game two the Bears fared much better versus Penn State Greater Allegheny. Morgan State overmatched the opposition with 67 points in the first half alone during a 130-49 blowout win. Malik Miller doubled up on 27 points and 11 boards with eight assists. 

Over on the VCU side, they had some successes last season at 22-10 overall and 14-4 in Atlantic 10 games. The Rams landed in third place with that effort behind Davidson and Dayton, then ultimately lost in the second round of the NIT. 

In their first outing of the season on Monday versus Manhattan, VCU scored 48 points in the first half on the way to a 73-56 win. Adrian Baldwin led the way on 15 points with nine assists. Both Brandon Johns and Jamir Watkins added 13 points apiece. 

PICK: I’m probably going with VCU but not touching it. The Rams got solid minutes from most of their roster during their first matchup versus Manhattan this week. VCU ended up shooting 42.6 percent from the field but didn’t have a significant advantage in rebounds (33-30) or team assists (12-12) along the way. As for Morgan State, they’re coming off a nice blowout win versus an overmatched opponent. This one should be much tougher.
