CSU-Fullerton vs Cal Poly Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/18/23

The Cal Poly Mustangs and the Cal State Fullerton Titans meet Saturday in college basketball action from Titan Gym. Cal Poly is currently 7-20 so far following a loss to CSU Bakersfield on Wednesday. Cal Poly Mustangs

Cal Poly hit a rough 7-12 stretch over their first 19 games of the year. The Mustangs have continued to skid in the ensuing eight games with losses to UC Davis, LBSU, CSU Fullerton, UCSB, Hawaii, UC Irvine, CSU Northridge and CSU Bakersfield. 

In the CSU Bakersfield game on Wednesday, the Mustangs held a slim 27-26 lead going into the second half. Cal Poly was outscored 44-35 from there and lost 70-62. Chance Hunter was tops on 23 points with 13 rebounds. 

CSU Fullerton Titans

Over on the Cal State Fullerton side, they went .500 over their first 20 games at 10-10 overall. The Titans are on a 5-2 run since then with wins over UC Irvine, Cal Poly, UC Riverside, Hawaii and UC San Diego with losses to CSU Northridge and Long Beach State. 

Matched up against UC San Diego on Wednesday, the Titans trailed 40-35 in the locker room. CSU Fullerton got better from there on a 41-33 run and took the win 76-73. Latrell Wrightsell led the team with his 25 points and five rebounds. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’m going to stick with CSU Fullerton. The Titans are riding a solid three-game win streak right now, but they’ve been cutting it pretty close with none of those victories coming by more than six points. Still, the last time these teams met up was a huge 65-36 win for CSU Fullerton on January 28 at Mott Athletic Center. The Mustangs scored just 16 points in the first half in that defeat. Cal Poly is riding a 14-game losing streak right now so it’s tough to trust them to do much of anything. CSU Fullerton should have a clear cover path here.
