Duke vs Wake Forest Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/31/23

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Duke Blue Devils meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Cameron Indoor Stadium. Wake Forest is 14-8 overall this year. The Deacons lost to NC State in their last outing. As for Duke, they’re currently 15-6 on the season and fresh off a win over Georgia Tech. Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Wake Forest hit an 11-5 run through their first 16 games this year, losing to LMU, Clemson, LSU, Rutgers and North Carolina. The Deacons are 3-3 in their last six with losses to Virginia, Pittsburgh and NC State. 

On Saturday versus NC State, the Deacons went into the break with a 37-31 edge. Wake Forest was outscored 48-40 in the second half for a tough 79-77 loss. Damari Monsanto led the team on 22 points and four rebounds. 

Duke Blue Devils 

Over on the Duke side, they lost to Kansas, Purdue, Wake Forest and NC State during their 12-4 start this year. The Devils have gone 3-2 since then, taking losses to Clemson and Virginia Tech along the way. 

In the Saturday game versus Georgia Tech, the Blue Devils came out of halftime with a 43-25 advantage. Duke kept it rolling on a 43-18 second half and won it 86-43. Kyle Filipowski was the top scorer with 18 points and seven rebounds.

I’ll stay with Duke in this one. The Blue Devils bounced back well from their three-point loss to Virginia Tech with a dismantling of Georgia Tech on the road. The Blue Devils have a few duds on the schedule this year (like the 24-point loss to NC State) however for the most part they’ve been quite competitive no matter the opponent. As for Wake Forest, they’ve scored 67 or more points in 10 straight games and beat the Blue Devils 81-70 in their last meeting on December 20. I like Duke to post another strong effort and power out a cover/win at home in the rematch, though. Should be a good one.
