The New Mexico Lobos and the Fresno State Bulldogs meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Save Mart Center. New Mexico comes into this one at 14-0 overall. The Lobos beat Wyoming in their last game. As for Fresno State, they’re 5-8 so far and coming off a loss to Utah State. New Mexico has rolled right along this year, beating Southern Utah, South Alabama, SMU, Jacksonville State, North Dakota State, Northern Colorado, Saint Mary’s, Western New Mexico, UTSA, San Francisco, Iona, Prairie View, Colorado State and Wyoming so far this year.

In the Wyoming game on Saturday, New Mexico was down 33-32 by halftime. The Lobos got better in the second half and pulled off the 76-75 comeback victory. Jamal Mashburn Jr. was tops in scoring with 20 points.

Over on the Fresno State side, they went 1-5 to start out the year, beating only Fresno Pacific. The Bulldogs are 4-3 since then with wins over UC Irvine, CSU Northridge, CSU Bakersfield and Wyoming.

Matched up against Utah State on Saturday, the Bulldogs were down 33-26 at halftime. Fresno State was outscored 34-28 from there and lost it 67-54. Jemarl Baker led the way on 20 points, and Leo Colimerio added 10 points.

PICK: I’ll probably stick with New Mexico. The Lobos will need a better effort than they put forth in the Wyoming game, however; New Mexico started pretty slow in that one and barely pulled off the victory. That said, the Lobos are sill doing well on the scoreboard overall; they’ve hit 76 or more points in four straight games. As for Fresno State, they’ve failed to crack 58 points in any of their last four games and will probably have trouble keeping pace here if New Mexico is playing to their capabilities.
