Georgia State vs Old Dominion Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/9/23

The Old Dominion Monarchs and the Georgia State Panthers meet Thursday in college basketball action from Georgia State Convocation Center. Old Dominion comes into this one at 14-10 overall. The Monarchs beat Georgia Southern in their last game. As for Georgia State, they’re 10-14 following a loss to Southern Miss on Saturday. Old Dominion Monarchs 

Old Dominion started out on a pretty decent run this year, going 10-6 through their first 16 outings. The Monarchs are 4-4 since then with wins over Georgia State, South Alabama, Coastal Carolina and Georgia Southern. 

On Saturday versus Georgia Southern, the Monarchs were all tied up at 30-30 by halftime. Old Dominion hit a 34-28 run in the second half and won it 64-58. Chaunce Jenkins was the leading scorer on 16 points and four rebounds. 

Georgia State Panthers 

Over on the Georgia State side, they had mixed results over their first 16 outings, going .500 on an 8-8 run. The Panthers are 2-6 since then, losing to Troy, Old Dominion, Georgia Southern, App State, Marshall and Southern Miss. 

In the Saturday game versus Southern Miss, the Panthers were up 34-30 by halftime. Georgia State was outscored 49-37 in the second half for a 79-71 defeat. Brenden Tucker posted 17 points and Jamaine Mann added 16 points with 10 rebounds. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll likely stick with Old Dominion in this one. The Monarchs are on a 4-2 stretch right now and not playing too badly overall. That run includes a 70-58 win over Georgia State back on January 19 at Ted Constant Convocation Center when these teams last met. The Monarchs posted a 37-33 run in the second half on the way to the win in that one. Old Dominion has 66 points or fewer in four of five games since then however, so they’ll need to step on the gas early in this rematch. Ultimately I think they’ll reach a cover/win, though.
