Syracuse went a sketchy 4-4 over their first eight games, losing to Colgate, St. John’s, Bryant and Illinois. The Orange are 5-1 since then with wins over Oakland, Georgetown, Monmouth, Cornell and Boston College.

In the Boston College matchup on Saturday, the Orange went into halftime up 36-27. Syracuse cruised in the second half 43-38 and won it 79-65. Joseph Girard put up 24 points and Benny Williams doubled on 16 points and 11 boards.
Over on the Louisville side, they got to their 10th game of the year before finally notching a win over Western Kentucky. The Cardinals are 1-3 since then with losses to Lipscomb, NC State and Kentucky.

On Saturday versus Kentucky, the Cardinals were down 45-30 at the break. Louisville was outscored 41-33 from there and lost 86-63. El Ellis led the way on 23 points, and Brandon Huntley-Hatfield added 10 points.

PICK: I’ll probably stay with Syracuse. The Orange are coming off a nice outing versus Boston College, shooting 47.5 percent from the field with 37 rebounds and 17 team assists. Syracuse has scored well lately with 78 or more points in six straight games. As for Louisville, there’s not much to get excited about this year. The Cardinals have scored 67 or below for four straight games, and they’ve given up 75 or more for three straight. Syracuse should have plenty of scoring opportunities here.
