The Texas Tech Red Raiders and the LSU Tigers meet Saturday in college basketball action from Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Texas Tech is currently 10-10 and coming off a loss to West Virginia. As for LSU, they’re sitting at 12-8 so far. The Tigers took a blowout loss to Arkansas on Tuesday. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Texas Tech Red Raiders

Texas Tech posted a 10-6 run through their first 16, losing to Creighton, Ohio State, Kansas, TCU, Oklahoma and Iowa State. The Raiders have continued to lose since then, falling to Texas, Baylor, Kansas State and West Virginia.

In the West Virginia matchup on Wednesday, the Raiders were down 33-28 going into the second half. Texas Tech didn’t get any closer on a 43-33 run from there and lost 76-61. Kevin Obanor was the top scorer on 20 points and eight rebounds.

LSU Tigers

Over on the LSU side, they were 12-4 through 16 games, falling to Kansas State, Kentucky, Texas A&M and Florida. The Tigers are also 0-4 through their last quartet, losing to Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee and Arkansas.

Matched up against Arkansas, the Tigers were drilled 38-14 in the first half. LSU got mildly better from there with 26 points but still ended up losing big 60-40. KJ Williams (11 rebounds) and Adam Miller each scored nine points.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably lean toward LSU here. You could make a case either way, though. Both squads have hit the skids against some tough competition lately; LSU is 0-7 in their last seven games and Texas Tech is 0-8 in their last eight. The Tigers haven’t scored more than 66 points in any of their last six outings; the Raiders have 70 or more points in three of their last eight. That said, I think this will be a reasonably high-scoring game and both teams should match well. I’m leaning LSU cover/win-wise due to the home advantage, though.

Andrew's Free Pick: LSU Tigers +1.5
