USC Trojans
USC posted an 11-5 overall record across their first 16 games amid some tough matchups. The Trojans went 6-1 in the next seven though, beating Colorado, Utah, ArizonaState, UCLA, Washington State and Washington.
In the Oregon matchup on Thursday, the Trojans faced a 42-27 deficit at the break. USC was outscored 36-33 in the second half and limped to a 78-60 loss. Boogie Ellis was the team’s leading scorer with 19 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Oregon State Beavers
Over on the Oregon State side, they managed a sketchy 7-9 run to start out the season. The Beavers won just two of the next eight outings, falling to Arizona, Arizona State, Stanford, Utah, Arizona State and Arizona in that time.
Matched up against UCLA on Thursday, the Beavers were down 31-18 by the time halftime rolled around. Oregon State didn’t end up getting any closer in the second half and lost 62-47. Jordan Pope was tops on the team with 17 points and two assists.

I’ll probably stay with USC here. You could make a good case either way, though; it should be a great matchup. That said, the Trojans snapped a four-game win streak with their Thursday loss to Oregon but they’d been playing well during the victories. USC hit 77 or more points in each of those four games. The Trojans haven’t seen Oregon State since way back on December 4 as USC posted a 63-62 home win at Galen Center. This one’s probably not going to be a super high-scoring game either; the Beavers have been at 60 or fewer points for five straight games (a 1-4 stretch). It’ll most certainly be a competitive matchup, though.
