St. John’s vs Seton Hall Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/1/23

The Seton Hall Pirates and the Saint John’s Red Storm meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Carnesecca Arena. Seton Hall is 13-9 so far this year. Seton Hall Pirates 

Seton Hall managed to beat Monmouth, Saint Peter’s, Wagner, Memphis, Lincoln PA, Rutgers, Drexel and St. John’s in their first 16 games. The Pirates are 5-1 since then with wins over Butler, Georgetown, DePaul, UConn and Butler again. 

In the rematch with Butler on Saturday, the Pirates were up 38-18 by halftime. Seton Hall scored another 32 points in the second half for a 70-49 blowout win. Dre Davis was tops in scoring with 15 points in 13 minutes. 

Saint John’s Red Storm

Over on the Saint John’s side, they posted losses to Iowa State, Villanova, Xavier, Seton Hall and Marquette in their first 16 games. The Storm are 3-3 since then with losses to Providence, Villanova and Creighton. 

In the Georgetown game on Sunday, the Storm trailed 39-35 going into the second half. Saint John’s posted a 40-34 run from there and won it 75-73, however. David Jones scored 17 points with seven rebounds to top the team. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stay with Seton Hall. This one could get interesting, though. The last time these teams met back on December 31 at Prudential Center. Seton Hall secured an 88-66 victory thanks to 46 second-half points. The Pirates caught more steam as the game went on and ended up cruising. Seton Hall is on a strong 5-1 run right now with 66 or more points in all five of their wins. A good start will go a long way in this one, and I think the Pirates can power out the cover/win.
