UNC Greensboro vs Mercer Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/21/23

The Mercer Bears and the UNC Greensboro Spartans meet Saturday in college basketball action from Greensboro Coliseum. Mercer is fresh off a Thursday matchup versus VMI. In that one the Bears won by eight points. As for UNC Greensboro, they played the Citadel in their Thursday game. The Spartans ended up winning by 10 points there. Mercer Bears

Mercer managed to beat Milligan, Winthrop, Robert Morris, Fairfield, Middle GA State, Morehead State and Troy in their first 14 games. The Bears hit a 1-4 run after that with losses to Chattanooga, Wofford, WCU and Furman. 

On Thursday versus VMI, Mercer had it all tied up 30-30 going into the second half. The Bears posted a 39-31 run from there and won 69-61. Both Kamar Robertson and Jalyn McCreary put up 14 points apiece. 

UNC Greensboro Spartans 

Over on the UNC Greensboro side, they beat JWU-Charlotte, UMBC, Montana State, Elon, Marshall, Warren Wilson and Western Carolina in their first 14 games. The Spartans went 4-1 in their next five with a lone loss to Samford. 

In the Thursday matchup versus the Citadel, UNC Greensboro jumped out to a 38-22 halftime lead. The Spartans were outscored 38-32 from there but held on for the win 70-60. Keyshaun Langley was tops on 19 points and nine rebounds.

I’ll probably stick with UNC Greensboro. The Spartans are playing well right now. They’re 6-1 over the last seven games, scoring 68 or more points in each outing. As for Mercer, they’ve hit 66 or more points in three straight games, but that comes after a three-game stretch with 52 points or fewer scored. I like the Bears to hang around in the first half here but I don’t think they’ll cover.
