The Cornell Big Red and the Yale Bulldogs meet Saturday in Ivy League Tournament college basketball action from Jadwin Gym. Cornell is sitting at 17-10 overall. The Big Red beat Columbia last Saturday. As for Yale, they’re currently 20-7 and coming off a win over Brown last weekend. Cornell Big Red

The Big Red’s first 20 games were a 15-5 run. Cornell would then hit a rough stretch to close out the season, going just 2-5 with losses to Princeton, Penn, Brown, Harvard and Yale. The two wins were over Dartmouth and Columbia otherwise.

Back on Saturday versus Columbia, Cornell went into the second half with a 45-39 edge. The Big Red kept it up in the second with a 42-34 run and took the victory 87-73. Greg Dolan was the leading team scorer with 17 points and four rebounds.

Yale Bulldogs

Over on the Yale side, they managed an 11-6 stretch through their first 17 games. The Bulldogs finished the regular season on a 9-1 run with wins over Brown, Penn, Princeton Harvard, Dartmouth, Columbia, Penn, Princeton, Cornell and Brown.

In the rematch versus Brown last Saturday, the Bulldogs held a slim 34-33 advantage in the locker room. Yale posted a 50-42 run from there and took the win 84-75. Bez Mbeng led the team on his 27 points and four rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with Yale in this one. It’s been a nice 9-1 stretch for the Bulldogs over the last 10 games; their only loss in that stretch came 66-64 in a road matchup versus Penn on February 17. Yale is scoring well these days; they’ve hit 68 or more points in 10 of their last 11 games. These teams have split their two matchups this year, with the home team taking the victory each time. First was a 94-82 Cornell win on January 13, then a 76-58 Yale victory on February 25. If Yale can keep up the scoring barrage with a good start, I think they’ll be fine. It should be a good matchup overall, though.

Andrew's Free Pick: Yale Bulldogs -6
